Mapping Geographic Inequalities to Improve Public Health Outcomes.
We're delighted to feature Dr. Luke Yaxley as a speaker at
the Global Public Health and Epidemiology Congress (G-PHEC 2026).
Presentation
Geographic Disparities in Deaths of Despair in the
UK: A Systematic Review
Why do some communities experience significantly higher rates of deaths of
despair than others?
Dr. Luke Yaxley will present a systematic review exploring regional
inequalities in deaths related to suicide, drug overdoses, and alcohol across
the United Kingdom. His research examines how geography, socioeconomic
deprivation, healthcare access, and wider social determinants contribute to
these disparities, while highlighting opportunities for evidence-based public
health interventions and policy development.
This important session will offer valuable perspectives for researchers,
healthcare professionals, epidemiologists, mental health specialists, and
policymakers working to reduce health inequalities and improve population
health outcomes.
